ISO 27701 (formerly known as 27552) | Privacy Information Management System (PIMS) is a global standard published in 2019 by the International Standards Organization.
The standard is essentially a set of data privacy operational controls which can be mapped to any privacy regulation such as the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) or the CCPA (California Consumer Protection Act). Once mapped, the PIMS operational controls can be implemented by privacy professionals and audited by internal or third-party auditors resulting in a certification and comprehensive evidence of conformity.
This open style standard is beneficial to companies who may be trying to deal with the complexity of trying to comply with multiple regulations when they operate in multiple jurisdictions.
